The University of Kentucky Wildcats win with ELEY

The biggest match of the collegiate rifle season, the NCAA National Championships, took place March 9-10, 2018 at The Citadel in Charleston, SC. The University of Kentucky Wildcats who were ranked fourth, took the Championship, shooting a 4,717 to win by nine total points over the number one ranked West Virginia University Mountaineers. The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs finished in third with a 4,701.

The first day of competition, concluded with the Wildcats shooting a 2,345 in the small-bore competition, which led the Mountaineers (2nd) by 17 points. The Horned Frogs followed the Mountaineers by just one point for a third place finish. All of the top three finishers trusted selected ELEY ammunition for their small-bore competition.

On day two, the Mountaineers finished first in the air rifle competition, but they could not make up the deficit to the Wildcats. The Mountaineers finished air rifle with a 2,381, the Horned Frogs finished second with a 2,375 and the Wildcats were third with a 2,372. The Wildcats air rifle score was good enough to win their second ever NCAA Championship.
