Rajmond was born in 1963 in a small town called Postojna, in south western Solovenia (famous for its 20-km long cave system called Postojna Cave), this is where Rajmond first started target shooting with small air rifle at the tender age of 8 years old. At the age of 15 Rajmond was first time cadet Slovenian champion with small air rifle; during the same year Rajmond won bronze in small 3x10 3 positions small bore rifle with open sights.

After moving to capital Ljubljana Rajmond became a member of a shooting club managed by single professional trainer in Slovenia Lojze Mikolic. His career progressed rapidly and Rajmond became a member of the junior national team (of former Yugoslavia), in 1980 he won his first medal (silver) with air rilfe at the Junior European Championship in Oslo and two years later won his first 50m 3x20 3 positions bronze medal at the Junior European Championship in Buchurest 1982.

Over the next 10 years Rajmond's career spiralled with success, achieving World Records in air rifle in 1987, 50m small bore rifle in 1990 and has continously held the World Record for 3-positions. His performances earned him the title of the World's best rifle shooter of the year in 1991 and 1993.

In 1991 Rajmond became a member of the national team of independent new republic of Slovenia, the following year Rajmand got married and started a family with his first son Matej arriving in 1992 followed by Andrej in 1996.
Rajmond achieved sensational scores of 1186, shot with ELEY Tenex (batch WM 1451) at the World Cup Final in Munich 1992, which became known among shooting experts as a World Record for the next century.
In the period of 1991-1998 Rajmond won many World and European titles with crossbow and shot more then 10 World Records in different crossbow events. In 1993 Rajmond started to shoot with 300m big bore rifles and won several World and European titles as well.

Renewal of co-operation with ELEY at the end of 1999 Rajmond carefully selected ammunition at the test range in Birmingham, which led to his greatest personal carreer achievement – Olympic gold in small bore rifle 3-position event in Sydney 2000 with a new Olympic record.

Following his success in Sydney Rajmond has continued shooting on top level winning medals at major competitions including World Cups, European Championships and World Championships, unfortunately he was just outside the podium at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in 4th place.

Did you know?

• At the age of 21 Rajmond had participated in his first Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984, to date he has competed in a total of six Olympic games.
• Rajomond was declared the World's best rifle shooter of the year in 1991 and 1993
• Rajmond has held the World Record in 50 m Rifle 3-position for more than 15 years – the oldest World Record in Olympic Rifle events.

Relationship with ELEY

"After the death of Eley's represetative Mr. Ken Downs in the middle of 90's no further interest from ELEY was found to support me with highest quality ammo. After not such a succesful period while shooting with RWS R-50 and Fiocchi SM ammunition in the period from 1995-1999, there was a great return with Tenex in the season 2000. For that season I changed a rifle to french producer Unique, with the help of a well-connected Unique marketing manager Englishman Alan Metcalfe for the first time I visited ELEY's test range here I met the new .22 ammo experts led by Mr. Bert Brooks. Since then Bert's help is indespensable in testing and selecting of top class ammo... "
